A steel plug with a 1/8" Allen hex head and VITON oring, used for draining the oil rail before pulling injectors. Genuine Navistar OEM parts. |
Use a straight 1/8" Allen wrench and lightly tap the wrench into the socket hole to remove any oil or degris from the Allen wrench hole as these plugs are easily stripped out if the wrench is not seated in the plug.
There are two plugs under each valve cover.
Order of 1 = 1 plug

7.3 uvc drain plug
Ford discontinued but these were exactly what was needed with o-ring, thank you

Quality
These trucks are getting old and if you've ever done injectors you've taken these out. Do yourself a favor and replace them if they are damaged.

Good idea to keep a spare or 2
These things just strip out too easy and they are small, so dropping one tends to make it vanish.

Oil plug
As described, no complaints.

Recommend replacing these
After I installed new injectors had rough idle and slight performance problem. Thought it was an improperly installed injector or oring tear. Turns out I did not replace the original uvc oil rail oring and plug. Have a lot better oil pressure at idle and on throttle. A cheap piece of mind when installing new injectors or orings.
