5 S&B cold intake air box for Powerstroke
Posted by David Reese on Apr 12th 2020
Awesome product, easy installation, fit great with upgrade from early 99 to late model turbo & pedestal, fit everything. Great on-line instructions & great price. Looks good under the hood. Would recommend to anyone wanting an upgrade airbox for 7.3.

5 Good quality

This kit cleaned up the engine bay well I think. Was a pretty straight forward install. Only real issue was getting the bottom of the filter seated on the seal inside the box. Other than that seems like a good investment. You can definitely hear the turbo more.

I replaced a 6637 intake with this. WOW! So much quieter and I love being able to visually check the filter without doing anything.

5 Great Product

Great product fit, and everything went together like it should have. Fit where factory air box was. Nice to be able to see the filter without disassembly. Only con is the tube from the air box to turbo has to slide through the hole in the airbox and you can't just lift it out like other MFG's. All in all, great product and makes truck breath better.

4 Very good fit and finish

The quality of the product is very good. The product went together easily and everything worked as the instructions said. The airflow potential seems much greater and I can hit higher boost levels (bouncing off the 25psi wastegate now at 60HP tune and up). The noise from the 38R is always present now and rather pronounced. It's not as loud as a 6.0l with a tune, but it's noticeable.
Now for the things that need some more work:
The battery hold-down is miserable and should be re-engineered with a captive nut so you can reuse the factory bolt; the slot allows it to move too much and the lock washers do not provide an effective jam effect.
The spot for the dust-minder is poorly chosen because under full song the venturi effect actually causes the plunger to suck down and set the light. I wanted a clean looking install so I installed the dust-minder, but later had to disconnect it because of the poor placement. -
