    early 99 AFE kit

    So this is the 3rd of 3 parts that I have installed.

    The first was the oil cross over, the 2nd was the fuel crossover - both made the 99 F350 either idle or run slightly quieter.

    So I was holding out for the AFE filter for an early 99 and also got the blue cover. Wow this thing is huge. I did a rough calculation and this AFE filter is about 4.5 times larger. By the numbers, the original filter is about 75 square inches. The AFE measures about 346 square inches.

    So I have run a few tanks through it. The turbo spins up faster and the EGT's are lower on hills. On some hills, I used to lock out OD to drop it into 3rd to drop the EGT's - don't need to with this air filter.

    The turbo is more noticeable, so that offset any of the noise drops with the fuel and oil crossover, and I have not seen any mileage improvements.

    Fit and finish are very nice – between the oil cross over, fuel cross over and the powder coated tube, Riffraff does nice work

    Overall - very pleased with this last mod as well as the others, and it's pretty too.

    Easy to install. You only need a few tools. U can modify the air box if u want to but it’s not needed.

    Had the cheap 6637 filter on my old 7.3 put the expensive one on my new 7.3 and wow. You can hear the turbo wayyyyy more.

    6637 filter kit

    I opted for the Donaldson filter since I live on a dirt road. Can definitely hear the turbo way more with this kit. Had to cut the back of my battery tray just a bit to get it to sit right and the hood to close. Would recommend!!

    Turbo very noticeable once installed. Moves lots of air. Very pleased with the price too!
