Gel Melt Use Notes
To De-Ice Frozen Fuel Filters:
If fuel is 'liquid' in the fuel tanks, but engine won't start, remove fuel filters and fill with 50% Gel Melt and 50% fresh diesel fuel. Reinstall fuel filters. Start Engine. Add Opti-Lube Winter or XPD All-In-One as directed to prevent gelling.
To Reliquefy Gelled Fuel:
Add approximately 1oz of Gel Melt to every 3 Gallons of fuel in the tanks. Remove fuel filters and fill with 50% Gel Melt and 50% fresh diesel fuel. Reinstall fuel filters. Start Engine. Let engine idle to warm up fuel system. Add Opti-Lube Winter or XPD All-In-One as directed to prevent gelling.
To Remove Water & Prevent Fuel Filter Icing:
Refer to treatment rates to determine the amount of Gel Melt needed to add to fuel. For Biodiesel blends containing a maximum of 20% biodiesel (B20), add two times the amount of additive listed.

    Gates Upper Coolant Hose

Posted by Robert on Jan 21st 2020

Love the fact that this replacement hose no longer goes through the fan belt. A great replacement that Riffraff always seems to have in stock vrs going to the STEALERship and paying alot more and probably not in stock.

OK - but not up to a a FoMoCo hose quality

Posted by Chris K on Jul 10th 2019

Just OK quality. Thickness appears to be the same as the new FoMoCo hoses, but something just isn't the same - can't put my finger on it. Yes, made in USA. I purchased ALL new FoMoCo hoses except this one as RiffRaff does not carry the OEM version. After spending ~$150 on new hoses, wish I spent the extra $25 or so getting the true Ford hose on Amazon....

does not seem like the gates quality I'm used to

Posted by INFRNL on Jan 28th 2019

I bought 4 of these for different vehicles/spares. I already have this hose purchased through NAPA years ago.

Gates usually has top quality products, but thiese do not seem to meet those standards IMO. I couldn't see any markings to show these are gates products.

Sure they will work, but there seem to be inconsistency's in ea hose. For the price, I really can't complain.

I always question why Ford didn't provide this hose all along being that our trucks clearly are made to have these. Stupid idea to have the factory hose route through the serpentine belt. Yet these were offered in dual alternator vehicles.

Anyway, good price for a replacement/spare hose

    Worked like a charm

Fit right up. Plan on changing thermostat housing. My old hose was orriginal and practically molded to the thermostat housing. And head on over to the hardware store and get new hose clamps for both ends and a larger one to secure hose to the power steering housing.

    Perfect fit

Had to replace my water necks so I went ahead and replaced the upper hose. Now I don't have to worry about removing the hose to change my belt.

No more worries about it running thru the serpentine belt

Posted by Scott on Dec 20th 2016

I do not have dual alternators but this hose routes around the serpentine belt. If the belt breaks with the normal set up you will have to remove your upper radiator hose to replace the belt. You would have to wait for the engine to cool and replace coolant. It fit like a glove.
