Heavy loads are no match for a 1999-2003 7.3L Powerstroke equipped with the Mishimoto 7.3L Transmission Cooler. The stock 7.3L Powerstrock transmission cooler can come up short of providing sufficient cooling, and with more weight in the truck bed, transmission temperatures tend to rise. Avoid those high temperatures and complement your cooling system with the latest addition to Mishimoto’s 7.3L Powerstroke performance parts, the all-new 7.3L transmission cooler.

With the Mishimoto 7.3L Transmission Cooler, high transmission fluid temperatures will be the least of your worries. The 37-row Mishimoto stacked plate cooler provides a larger surface area over both of the stock coolers. Core volume is increased by a whopping 265%, and fluid capacity is increased by 1.0 qt. The increased size of this 7.3L transmission cooler provides a proven 10+°F drop in transmission fluid temperature.

No modifications are necessary for installation, and, just like all Mishimoto 7.3L Powerstroke parts, this cooler comes with the Mishimoto Lifetime Warranty.
  • Direct fit for the 1999–2003 Ford 7.3L Powerstroke
  • Proven +10°F (+5.6°C) drop in transmission fluid temperature with no additional fluid pressure drop
  • No modification necessary for installation, functions with all stock equipment
  • 37-row stacked plate fluid cooler provides larger surface area over the stock 9-row transmission cooler
  • Transmission cooler core has a 265% increase in core volume compared to the factory 9-row transmission cooler
  • Increases transmission fluid capacity by 1.0 qt
  • Mishimoto Lifetime Warranty
Note: Will not work with vehicles that came equipped with a high mounted power steering cooler. These vehicles will need to relocate the power steering cooler to the lower mounting location.
1999–2003 Ford F-250, F-350, F-450 w/ 7.3L Powerstroke

    Awesome upgrade

This cooler was fairly easy to install. The installation video on YouTube helped a lot. Best part is my transmission runs 150-200 degrees cooler when towing heavy.

    Just what I needed!!

Posted by Brian Papiez on May 20th 2021

I had the stock 7.3 transmission cooler and definitely needed to upgrade. I’m surprised I didn’t have issues before but I did notice before my father bought the truck it had already had a remanufactured transmission installed. He didn’t drive the truck much when he owned it but I need it to be dependable and for towing. All I can say about the difference between the two is OMG!! The Mishimoto cooler is HUGE and I’ll never have to worry about keeping it cool again. It was a pretty easy install and the only thing I’d suggest is the inlet and outlet tubes be bent 90* or the hoses are like the ones pictured with the 90* bend in them. It’s not a big deal but you have to make sure when routing the hoses you don’t put any kinks in them. Still a 5 rating as this thing is awesome.

    Happy customer

Getting the old one out was not too bad, once I noticed there was a clamp holding both hoses to the frame area. Got the new one in without jacking it up. Not bad of an install. Super good product. Just remember to add an extra qt.

Very nice kit, everything you need was there. It is massive compared to the stock cooler.

    Mishimoto trans cooler

I am impressed with this cooler. Wish I would have done it sooner. So, I pull a 40ft. PJ Flatbed Trailer, I'm a Hotshot Truck hauler with my 2001 F250 Super duty. I finally had a real good test today, I hauled a 6654lb load on my trailer up the mountain, my total weight truck, trailer and load was 21.700 lbs. Pulled 6% Grade up the mountain and the Tranny never got over 195, on the level she's running 160 degrees. Also, it cools down much quicker once you level out and back up to speed. Its consistently running 20 degrees cooler. And by the way the temperature outside today in Arizona was 107 degrees. Very nice, thanks Clay, as always you have my business.

This is a much needed upgrade for anyone running the 4r100 auto on their powerstrokes from the early 2000’s. Money well spent.
