GARRETT GTP38R POWERMAX BALL BEARING TURBO
This turbo works fine and was installed easily as a direct replacement for the stock turbo. However, this did not do what many had claimed. The change to power was minimal at best, and I really didn't even notice much of a drop in EGT's. If you have to replace a broken or bad turbo, probably a good choice. As an upgrade- I'd likely look to something else. FYI, this was installed on a 7.3 with full 4" exhaust, DP Tuner 80hp tune, EBP delete, factory injectors, HPOP, and intake..

Solid Upgrade With a Few Drawbacks
Install was very simple on my 01 F350 since I've taken my turbo out a few times in the past. This is truly a drop in turbo and everything fits nicely. If you dont already have them, definitely get the high flow outlet, ebpv delete pedestal and a few more exhaust/intake clamps if you want your life to be easier. The only reason I'm giving this 4 stars is because they really should have an upgraded compressor wheel already built into this kit. Going from a wicked wheel on a stock GTP38 to this turbo there is a noticeable lag on the spool time and egts are slightly higher with the larger exhaust housing. That being said, the whistle is crazy loud and this thing will pump out crazy boost if tuned right. Would recommend to anyone with injector, exhaust, and fuel upgrades in mind.

Garrett GTP38R PowerMax Ball Bearing Turbo
Excellent aftermarket design! The wheel is a much more efficient design with less drag and quicker spool---the ball bearings help move the truck up to speed with ease! Highly recommend!

Absolutely love this turbo
Great sound great fitnent. Spools awesome. Ever since adding this turbo my check engine light hasn’t come in from over booting. Not sure if I had issues before but I haven’t had to add the overboost regulator yet :) only firmest issue I had was the spider wouldn’t line up correctly after a quick call to clay he told me to loosen the inlet bolts get it lined up and then it was perfect. I should have called sooner to stop my frustration sooner lol

Turbo
I got the 38r turbo on my 2001 7.3 runs better with this turbo had fast shipping on this turbo I can complain about is that I thought rift raft would send some of there stickers so I could put them on my truck and tool box but overall truck runs way better I think. Hopefully this turbo last until the truck falls apart. will probably do more business with rift raft if Needed so. But would like some stickers since all my buddy’s did that have ordered from you but I didn’t .

GTP38R Turbo
Great turbo option if not changing over to a T4 style. Less smoke, reduced EGT and perfect fit. The turbo kit does not have the out let O-Ring for the intake manifold and the 12pt housing bolts are included. This is missing from the product description. Stock sticks will light but I recommend running a tuner. With my DP-Tuner on the 60hp setting the truck runs so well higher hp setting are not necessary. With the addition of a Terminator HPOP rebuild, FRX and 38R I can't even imagine what new sticks would be like. At 177K the truck is running extremely well with the top-end tune up.
