The Banks Power SmartLock Transmision Brake - 55266 is a required part for installation of a Banks Power Brake on your 1999-2003 7.3L Ford Powerstroke equipped with a automatic transmission. The manual transmission does not require the use of this product.

Banks' electronic braking device automatically activates when conditions call for braking. SmartLock locks the torque converter and simultaneously raises transmission-line pressure, to smoothly reduce vehicle speed. Besides saving wear-and-tear on your service brakes, SmartLock prolongs automatic transmission durability by increasing its holding capacity, eliminating excessive clutch slippage, and cooling transmission-fluid temperatures.
